Animal Behavior - Surging serpents!

I’m not sure how I feel about this kind of behavior (and I like snakes):

That’d be a startling sight . . .

I can only go on living if you assure me these snakes are not found in Iowa. :astonished: :astonished: :astonished:

Must be fun for the snake.

I also like snakes. Well, I like them inasmuch as I don’t have to feed them. If I have to feed them dead mice (or worse, living mice), I just freak out. I can’t do it.

I think most people fear snakes because of what happened in the Garden of Eden. Our souls still remember, somehow.

most? hmm..

Don’t you think most people fear snakes? Most women I know fear them, and women are a worldwide majority, when you add the men and children who fear snakes, I’d be willing to say that most people fear snakes.

You don’t hear people say, “Awww, such a cute little snake” like they do to puppies and kittens, after all…

yes, i do believe most people fear snakes. but i’m not sure most fear snakes because of what allegedly took place in the place with the apple tree..

I think most people who fear snakes fear them because they’ve been conditioned to. I kept snakes as a kid, and really young children weren’t afraid at all, unless/until they saw an older person react in horror. Infants will just reach out and touch them, fearlessly.

Many people around the world seem to have more of a healthy respect for, rather than a fear of, the serpent. Always a good idea to stay out of striking range of something that might be venomous, eh?

That’s why I said souls remember it, not minds. I don’t think it’s a conscious, well thought-out response, fear of snakes is really reactionary and unexplainable for many people.

yes, but wouldn’t this imply that a garden eden did indeed exist, for us being afraid of snakes because of what happened in the garden?
and by any means not wanting to start a religious thread, this is where my point lies.
that was a terrible sentence, but i guess you get my point.

I think they’re from the Phillipines, so unless Iowa’s relocated, you’re probably safe from flying snakes!

You may go on living.

(Of course, you Iowans do have these:

)

Yes, I do. I think I understood the first response (with most) differently from the way you meant it as well.

Ok…break it up :stuck_out_tongue:
Amar, make us a pizza while Cran tends the garden, then we’ll all sit down for family dinner…

Amar started it!

but i didn’t!! i just wanted to clarify something. and i did. so, pizza’s up!!

ok, don’t make me twist any knickers! :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, you did. I replied to Herbie’s original post, and you replied to my comment. So you started it.

P.S. You were not very clear.

I’m gonna twist both yer knickers and send you to bed without supper. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

What’s a knicker?

not true not true not true!!

here’s you:

I think most people fear snakes because of what happened in the Garden of Eden.

i then wrote: most?

you thought i was questioning that most people are afraid of snakes.

but i was not.

i was questioning that most peeps are afraid of snake because of the apple thing! if that were true, most people on this earth would believe in the garden place.

ah shucks, let’s forget it. here, have an apple.
hahaha…

It’s a good thing you’re a doctor…i’m twisting your knickers so tight you’ll need surgery to remove them! :stuck_out_tongue:
