Then call it a 2/3 roll, or a flibbertygibbet, or what have you. As I said, strictly speaking “roll” is the basic term that is always understood fundamentally to include the completed cut/note/tap sequence. That’s it. Trust me, this parlance is the general norm among experienced players in the ITM whistle community, so variations within the roll concept are always noted as a convention when talking about specifics. So, you have long roll, short roll, double-cut roll, etc. etc. Maybe now a 2/3 roll; I don’t know how others would take the idea in terms of nomenclature, though, as it lacks the tap.
Another example: Hypothetically, if you wanted and circumstances allowed you to reverse the sequence to tap/note/cut and you intend to give it the “roll” label, then one should really call it a reverse roll or something like that, for clarity’s sake.
