American Idol?

I don’t know if anyone is watching, so I won’t get into major particulars. But I will say this:

Carrie Underwood has no bidness covering the Crue. That is all.

I think Carrie was a heavy metal girl when she was a teenager. I saw a YouTube of her at a Skid Row concert doing their song “I Remember You.” No way she would know that song or want to perform it, unless she listened to that stuff as a kid.

You could be right, Bill. She also seems pretty familiar with Heart

Having a hard time watching the judges this year. They are so tiresome and with four now, it’s over the top. Paula was really lit on performance night.

Anyway, I watched the performances but skipped the following night. Some very good talent. That rocky kid is so contrived, yet he’s selling it well. He’s like a recipe with Steve Tyler, Keith Richard, et al jumbled together…I know he’s talented, but watching him is like some kind of retro exercise in what I don’t like about pop culture.

The two bottom should have been Megan and Jasmine. Hurry up and go.

‘rocky guy?’

I think he means Adam Lambert, based on his description.

I didn’t watch the results either-actually I found out from my mom that I missed the final two or three. I’m working on a quilt as a wedding present for my niece and am making up the design as I go so I’d only quit to watch when they sang. I thought that the redhead was the last one. Anyway, from what I’ve seen, the “widdoer” is way beyond everyone else- except maybe that little short haired blond (I’m told her performance was one I missed)

There’s just wayyyyy too much yak, staged background filler, etc. for me to be able to just sit and watch it-I’m much too ansty and have to be doing something-so it makes a good “quilting” show. Now that Lie to Me show is the only thing that I can just sit and watch-providing I have something to read during the endless commercials.

righto.

Adam has a heck of a voice but he’s a little weird for America I’m thinking. He’s going to have to win people over one song at a time.

Plus those pics with his boyfriend on the internet wont help.

TiVo. Start watching at 9 and you’ll catch up right about 10 so you can vote.

I just checked the Am Idol site trying to see who got the boot(still don’t know) and they are touting …

Grand Ole Opry Week! :astonished: :astonished:

I will probably skip that one.

When??? Next week? Oh yuck…I mean, there are a few artists that come to mind that would be great to hear (Cash, for one). But For the most part? Yuck…

They are seriously asking kids who want to be pop stars to sing classic country? This has disaster written all over it.

Wonder who’ll make the feeble attempt at a Patsy Cline tune?

 What would be some good songs for them? (nah) :stuck_out_tongue:

Loretta Lynn’s Don’t Come Home a Drinkin? with lovin’ on your mind

or maybe “the Pill” song? can’t remember the name of that thing…

On second thought that might be the funniest thing on tv…

That’s what we do. You can watch the whole 2-hour program in about an hour, even listening to a lot of the judges’ yakking. Honestly, we sometimes wonder whether the judges are listening to the same thing we are.

They do every year. Show tunes, too.

At this point I’m liking Alexis and Adam. As has been said, Adam might just be too weird for America, but he sure can sing.

Puhleeze, no more Megan Un-Joy. Lambert ruled again, like a Phoenix and looking like a cross between Christine Jorgensen and Elvis. I though Lil was better than credited, I was mystified by the rejection.

It’s a contest!

I find that Chris guy is growing on me a bit. He’s always been a good singer, but seems bland.
In some ways Anoop is my favorite, but I’m not sure he can expand his repertoire in the necessary directions.

I hope Sarver goes. There’s a yearly show put on by the students where my girls went to high school, called the Rock & Roll Revival. Every year, a couple of kids are stand-outs, some are horrible, and the middle bunch can carry a tune (which is enough to generate all the audience hooting and hollering you need in high school.) Sarver reminds me, every time I hear him, of a decent candidate for the high school R & R Revival, but nothing more.

I’m not as impressed this season, so far. I like Adam, and I was really glad he “cleaned up” a bit and didn’t do the rocker stuff. I also really liked the first two guys (can’t remember their names now), but the rest kind of leave me cold. Oh, and Danny, I really like him too. I really don’t get why they picked Megan anyway…the other girl she was up against when the judges picked the final ones for the 13 was way better imo.

I’m still kind of in shock that Alexis went home last week.

Yeah…that’s him. Chris. And Matt? Is that the other one? Who plays the jazz piano stuff? I like both of them.

And I agree with you about Michael. He’s ok, but nothing to write home about vocally.

America got it wrong last week.

I’m pretty much with everyone else; Michael and Megan should be the next two to go, then there’s Adam and one or two others who are entertaining, but the rest are just kind of dull.
