Is there anybody out there who doesn’t use their whistles as backscratchers? Perhaps an enterprising maker could add a rake-like piece on the end of a whistle.
I use to twirl them as I use to be a majorette but I quit that after almost poking out the dog’s eye. I have also used one as a striker on my mountain dulcimer just to hear what it would sound like. Every once in a while I use it as an extention of my arm to reach the light switch when I am too lazy to get out of the chair. :roll:
I don’t use mine as a back scratcher because I already have a bamboo back scratcher.

I’ve practiced various self-defense techniques with my Village Smithy.
I haven’t actually gotten a chance to use it yet, but maybe I will if I ever play in public. 
Overton Low-D’s may be used a Bodhran player control instruments.
A quick swish 5 inches over the head of said player ususally distracts them enough to down shift out of overdrive.

I’ve made a couple of low D’s with removable extensions that convert them into walking sticks. The five inch head joint is angled at 45 degrees to double as a handle and there is a rubber tip on the bottom.
That’s about the only non-instrument use I have done with my whistles, but for me it is turning the radio on/off.

once in the village coach house in boston, a drunken banjo player used mine to stir his coffee. has anyone been busted using one for a crackpipe?
How could you tell the banjo player was drunk? Would there be any noticable difference in their behavior? 
I use my Low D to threaten my guy friends into submission!
It can also be used as a pacifier.
I’ve got one of David’s walking stick low D’s and it’s also great for getting conkers off of trees!
