ALAN BURTON Reeds

Lorenzo,
Glad it’s still alive  If you wanted to raise those notes, you can open the reed a little by the bridle (after all, the reed should ease over 2 or 3 weeks). Otherwise it is inserting the staple slightly (1 or 2mm) deeper into the reed head.
The thing about rolled is, unless you have many mandrills of various diam., you will still end up with the same inner diam., … Good luck!

Cheers
Al

Clips & Snips has a new audio of Alan Burton (and his band) playing one of his reeds on Maids of Montcisco.

Great playing Alan! I mean fantastic. Hey, what’s that phone ringing in the background (just kidding)? That reed sound pretty darn crisp…love that tune. Which chanter are you playing?

EDIT: O’Briain chanter (Ebony, C key) I forgot.

Ah, Alan, what a great sound your band makes!! Reminds me of the Bothys’… but different, but with the same fierceness! Love that clip! Thanks for it!

PS I may be way off base with the Bothy comparison, but I’m listening to them right now, and am amazed at their playing.
