Adding a C-foot

Hello
Has anyone of you experience with adding a c foot to your flute ?
I own a nice M&E flute with six keys. But unfortunately Mr. Cronnolly doesn’t offer c foots anymore.. Maurice Reviol gets often suggested at this board when it comes to adding keys to an instrument. But I am not sure if it isn’t a bit too much trouble, sending a 500€ flute from Germany to New Zealand, just for adding two keys…
So, has anyone of you in a similar situation dealed with a “normal” classical instrument maker in this term ?
Of course I will have ask some makers by myself, but before I do that, I wanted to look if there are any specific good suggestions
Thanks for your help !

C foot keys are very expensive on modern makers flutes. They are a lot of work.
The question is , “is it worth spending that much on a 500 euro flute?”
For the cost you could probably get an antique English flute in playing condition with 8 keys.

Alternatively ask to see if anyone has an 8 key M and E they wish to part with.

I would say Reviol would be cheaper “and willing” than any other maker I can think of.

I’ve gone that route, and fairly recently on a D Somers flute. I would say that adding the C keys depends to a degree upon what kinds of music you wish to play, and you’re correct it is expensive. Maurice Reviol did the key work for my flute and did an excellent job; I had 8 keys added. I might add that the New Zealand Dollar is quite low presently, not as low in value as it was in say September, yet there are some savings there, I would suspect. Postage is expensive.

In addition, it is a good idea and common courtesy (in my personal opinion) to seek the opinion of the maker of the flute as adding keys, by another maker, may have an impact upon your warranty or other work that you may wish Mr. Cronnolly to perform in the future, should the need arise. BTW, I have a Cronnolly 8 keyed flute made of Ebonite which I very much enjoy.

My experience has been adding keys only. Adding a C foot is something I couldn’t speak to in as much as I’ve not had that done. The flutes I’ve purchased have come with a C foot, and the two holes drilled, but no C keys.
