Having just visited the Uilleannpipestutor website, I was surprised to see that the ACA Triplet video demonstrated that it be played using C# fingering. When playing a tune in Gmajor, is it standard practice to fluff embellishments and play C# fingering rather then C natural, or do you think that the video was intending to demonstrate the triblet in Dmajor (really, an AC#A triplet)? Thanks.
AC#A is the way you do it regardless of key.
No more frustrating A - Cnatural - A excercises for me! That’s fantasgreat, thanks!
I think there is a nice example of this triplet in Willie Clancy’s version of the Steam Packet. I think I recall that Grey Larsen has a transcription of this version…

Sounds like a C# to me - at least the way Mr. Larsen plays it on his flute.

Just to make sure you are not too shocked in the future, staccato C# quavers get played in G tunes as well.

Now that would be plain silly and completely missing the point. Doing it like that on the flute I mean.
Most, if not all, C stacatto notes are played with C#, especially within triplets according to most I have spoken with on the matter.
Well, it looks like there’s a consensus. Thanks again everyone.
