Sorry to bring up the horrid world of scottish piping, but I just got my small pipes in the mail, and neither I nor the middleman knows where they came from.
If any of you guys have a clue where they came from, I think they’re a mix match set. The drones are imitation Ivory, and ABW I think, there is one plastic baritone drone as well, the set came with two ABW tenor drones.
The Mainstock is plastic, as is the tip of the mouthpiece. The Chanter appears to be rosewood.
Now a reed question,
The tenor drone sounds okay, but occasionally when I enter the upper hand or adjust the pressure to be more in key with the rest of the drones the tenor will squeal. It seems like it’s jumping an octave and it won’t quit until I plug it, apply much more pressure to the bag, and take my finger off the end. It wouldn’t bother me so much, I have adjusted the reed so I use more pressure to get the upperhand. But every single time I strike in the tenor drone screaches til I plug it and unplug it.
Did that make any sense? ![]()
Anyway, thanks for any tips or suggestions.
Jeremy
