My personal instinct tells me that a thumb hole for my left hand will ask for trouble in the long run as I progress my ability on tinwhistles.Esp.,if I use my half hole method frequently continuously.
But I feel a thumb finger in my right hand can do much better jobs with being nailed to one spot. For much better tone/intonation.
Any makers who think of this idea,Or who already made this kind of tubes?
I also want to know if this is not a reasonable idea for their playabilities and intonations.
Thanks.
P.S.I want to get them if that sort of tubes are available
thanks, both. hmm first it depends on which thumb finger to use as the main support…
peeplj,a right thumb as the main support is a sort of the standard thing on whistle playing? Or it adapts experiences as flute/recorder player to your whistle playing?
My thinking is that The third hole from the bottom into just the dorsal side which I use with my righ thumb. The second hole with index finger. The first hole and extra hole for D#/Eb with the other two fingers…
What do you think?
P.S.peeplj, I listended to your syn whistle recordings,it was fun and comparisons using the same tune are always useful to me. Thanks
Right thumb hole, like for an =F would help. It’s a tone I just can’t play correctly in lower register, with any of my whistles: too much hiss, or too weak.
Now, in the tunes where it could be a hindrance, or loss of balance, one could always TAPE it, couldn’t one?

The point is to move F# hole(the fourth hole from the top) on the dorsal position. And type A is what I want for now(I am still not sure of ‘the price’ this arrangement should pay).
[type C]:for the standard fingering on 6 holes

P.S. Hi,Zubivka, thanks
P.S.2 I need type A arrangement for the key of A.
