I have the Mac version of Microsoft Office on my Macbook, but I like to use a simpler and faster word processor for straightforward documents. I’ve tried some of the freeware programs and haven’t taken to them. Last week, I downloaded a program called “Bean” and I’ve immediately taken to it. Very intuitive interface and a surprising range of features. Loads fast. I recommend it. There’s a link to it at http://www.opensourcemac.org/

My kids (all three are MAC folk, as I) use the open source version of word. Less bloat ware and it takes WAY less time to boot. I’ve been recommending it to people if they are “displeased” with Holy Mother Microsoft.
Didn’t check Dale’s message URL- kinda duplicated the effort.
I tried two or three times to get into openoffice and just couldn’t. I’m not sure what the problem is. Probably it’s being used to Office and having trouble with the transition.
