A.P.B. on Wylde flute missing (?) in Ireland

Lads, this is a strange one. Without going into too much detail (there are good reasons not to), a flute of mine has gone missing while out of my possession. The person responsible for the instrument is currently unable to answer questions about its whereabouts. Now, it may just turn up in the normal course of things, but to be on the safe side I though I’d post a description of it here, in case someone should happen to spot it. Description as follows:

8-key flute, marked “Wylde / From Rudall and Rose / 25 Villiers Street / London;” sterling keywork; c foot with pewter plugs; last 2-3 centimeters of foot have been repaired with blackwood (obvious repair); Bb key has extra silver tab soldered onto the key-cup, most keys marked “WYLDE” on underside; flute body has Nicholson treatment: flattened along toneholes, deep indentation for the LH 1st finger partially obscuring maker’s stamp; some other signs of repair (short-F block repaired, also C# block); headjoint not present

If anyone spots this flute, be advised that it is absent without its owner’s consent. Thanks,

Rob

p.s. It has been, at various times, in Clare, Galway, and maybe Cork as well.

Well, the missing Wylde has surfaced again. I don’t have all the details, but it seems to have spent the better part of three weeks in an unlocked Nissan Sunny, in the company of several other valuable instruments, near the train station in one of Ireland’s major cities! Opportunity missed there, lads. Anyhow, the A.P.B. is officially called off.

My thanks to those who contacted me privately with encouragement during my time of hand-wringing. Cheers,

Rob

VERY good news!

Whew!
