STOLEN Lehart

Not mine luckily (for me), but a friend’s one.

It’s a 5 keyed lehart (no long F), it has a repaired crack on the barrell, and the metal tube coming out from the barrell was bent and repaired, but you can see where it was bent. On the crown there’s a small gold pin.
It was stolen together with a french musette bagpipe, some spare parts of an uilleann pipe, the case, and some other minor objects…
Keep an eye around (ebay and all)

If you give more detail about WHERE, WHEN, and HOW it was stolen, we can post this in our Lost/Stolen Instruments forum.

Oh, sure. It was stolen from the owner’s car, in Genova (Italy) on 19 march evening…

has the flute been located yet?

Sorry to hear about this. Having just had an instrument stolen, I know what your friend is going through.

I had one of my keyless flutes stolen a couple of years ago when I was traveling. It was in a laptop bag, along with my laptop – which means the laptop was fenced for next to nothing and the flute probably ended up in a garbage receptacle or is propping some window open as I type this.

Laptop bags which look like laptop bags is just asking for trouble (same with camera bags). Just ask Sylvain Barou.

has the flute been located yet?

Nope.

please don’t laugh at this (to bodhran haters) but some years ago someone broke into my van (smashed a side window) and nicked my kangaroo skin bodhran. It was in my special bodhran case which looked, alas!, too much like a case for drum kit cymbals. those of you who are drumming non literate should be advised that cymbals are very costly items- a good haul for a thief.

funnily enough the idiot thief took the stolen item to the nearest percussion shop to flog it.
the shop owner agreed a commision basis sale for it and then rang me to ask why I had so quickly sold the bodhran case which, he, himself had only delivered to me a few weeks before! (over some months he had organised it to be custom built for bodhran). what a coincidence! i told him the true story and i think the theif was nabbed by the police.

I still have that bodhran and that case.
