This is me playing on an alto C ocarina, of red clay. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3OGAH4fzvU
Nice. What’s the backing track, a midi?
yes
Nice video Walden. That tune sounds almost Renaissance-like. Do you have sheet music for it?
I listened to a couple. I liked you and your Mom.
Hi Walden
15 minutes of listening to nice ocarina playing - good way to chill on a Sunday afternoon.

Yes. Here’s the exact arrangement: http://www.ccel.org/ccel/walker/harmony/files/gif/The_Promised_Land.gif
Ah!Shape note tunes.
I went to a recorder workshop years ago where we played several of these fascinating pieces with all the parts and those REALLY sounded Medieval. Very eerie harmonies and lots of fun to play
Here’s the same hymn as it’s sung today. In the late 19th Century a new style of shapenote music developed, and this tune was rearranged into that style by Rigdon McIntosh, and in a major key.
