....a blast from the past!...

Just been listening to some of my albums (from the days of my youth!) I just put on The Cult “Love” album, and it instantly transported me back to the '80’s when I was at Art college…then I listened to The Stranglers - “Golden Brown” and “Strange Little Girl” were always my favorites. Yes…I was a goth! …I admit it! They still sound as good now as they did then!
What are your musical “blasts from the past”??..any embarrassing ones???..go on…spill the beans…

Oh, dear. How did you miss the YerTube](http://chiffboard.mati.ca/viewtopic.php?t=43151&sid=80819c85061c7ba9f20bbed87a9c1928%22%3EYerTube) thread?

I must have been busy…

still less than 100 pages…shouldn’t take too long to catch up

Last year I bought a digital radio and discovered “Planet Rock”, I’m now enjoying a second childhood.

I’ll give you a nod when I’m on page 98! (Only quite recently ventured into the pub…that’s why I missed it all!)

Cass

I’ve missed most of the Youtube thread because I can’t access it while I’m at work.
I tried to catch up on it, and about one in four of the posted links has been withdrawn, either for copyright reasons or for obscenity.
So it might take less time than you imagine.

This has been my avatar for a while.

Mukade

And the same avatar on this double post.

You could always start at the end and work your way back.

…I’ve looked at some from the beginning, a few from the middle, so I’ll have a go at a few of the last ones now!

(..I noticed your avatar straight away Mukade!)…I always fancied Ian Astbury…but that’s another thread entirely!!! (My husband has met Kate Bush on a couple of occasions, so if he’s allowed to fancy her…)

In my case, Pompous Pretentious Prog
Genesis, Peter Gabriel…
The old Genesis sounds goofy to me now, but Peter Gabriel is still so good.

Thanks to the You Tube thread I just bought the 4-CD collection of Yes (Yes Years). Got it used for $ 15  I wasn’t a big Yes fan back in the day, but they sound very good to me now. I think it might be from having been in a church choir for the last 5 yrs. When Rick Wakeman does his Bach-influenced, roaring pipe organ passages, it’s so exhilarating.

I can only take it in small doses though. Too intense. :boggle:

The You-Tube thread is great-- not only has it helped me re-discover fossils from my past, it’s also been a chance to listen to things I wouldn’t have otherwise. ex. “If Cowtime likes this, it must be cool”

“If Cowtime likes this, it must be cool”

:astonished: :stuck_out_tongue:

The Spice Girls. I still love them (well, most of them).

Anybody looking through my collection of 45 RPM records would think that I only like the oddball songs. My theory has always been that I would buy the weird songs because they would just be a flash in the pan and you would never hear them again, whereas the really good songs will be played forever. So I own:

Tennessee Bird Walk
They’re Coming to Take Me Away, Ha Haaaa
The Unicorn (duh - big surprise there!)
The Chipmunk Song
Quentin’s Theme
Convoy
Dueling Banjos
Popcorn
Sink the Bismark
Battle of New Orleans
Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout
Winchester Cathedral
Cow Patti
Henry VIII
WOLD
Monster Mash

And that’s just some of them! I have lots of kid’s records, most of which are so scratchy that I really should toss them. Then there’s the albums . . . .

My daughter has kind of accepted this kind of thinking also - on her IPOD she has a song by Weird Al about Star Wars done to the tune of “American Pie.”

My record/CD collection looks like it belongs to at least 7 different people! My tastes have evolved over the years…or am I just confused??? The trick now, is to try and whittle them down to the essentials for my mp3 player! So many albums…so little space left!!!

Cass.

ps…just ordered "Wooden Flute Obsession 2 & 3 the other day. They’ll HAVE to go on!

My record/CD collection looks like it belongs to at least 7 different people!

This is a good thing.
