78 RPM recordings available online

I’m making some of my dubs of 78s available at the Internet Archive website. Click here. I’m starting with the piping, natch, :sunglasses: but plan to throw in plenty of fiddle, flute, xylophone, what have you. I’ll get the 78s out of the way before moving onto more recent items, if I still have any energy left that is.
I’ve started out with a few sides by Tom Ennis and Michael Gallagher. Look 'em up and post links/comments/scathing criticisms if you’re so inclined, and above all enjoy!
Oh, I’ll be throwing in a lot of pipers you’re likely not familiar with, Sean O’Nolan, Martin Bierne, Jimmy McLaughlin; also a good few of Leo Rowsome. I did contact Kevin Rowsome about whether that was on the level with him and he said it’d be fine as long as we’re aware of Leo’s commercially available recordings too.

5/27 - added recordings of Shaun O’Nolan
5/27 - also added recordings of Patrick Fitzpatrick
5/30 - added two more recordings of Michael Gallagher
5/30 - also added Jimmie McLaughlin

Great :boggle: Learning some tunes from AP’s “From the Archice”,I was always wondering what kind the actuall playing was of these pipers. Thanks for sharing and I’m expecting more and more

I’m not certain what to look for after clicking the link.

I searched ’ Uilleann’

… sometimes, the obvious just needs to smack me in the face to get my attention.

Thanks Innerhand.

Any direct links to the goodies?
The search facility seems to be bollocksed atm…

Thanks for putting up old stuff Kevin, now if i could only actually hear it.

Edit: this isn’t it is it?

Various Artists - Wakka Chikka Wakka Chikka: Porn Music For The Masses Volume 1 [csr049]

Sounds like one of Dale’s whimsical Forum titles, now blandly called Musical Genre Hybridization. Yawnnnn…
For now just keep trying to search on the site, it does wobble from time to time. Even with the handy program they provide to upload stuff it’s a bit time consuming, hafta write descriptions, add the tags twice, put the artist in after the fact, if you submit too much in the description the program crashes…and I’ve got a gynormouse heap of sides I want to put on there! So hang tight.

Found them, got them, awesome!

Thanks again Kevin!

Thanks a lot
I’ll take it for breakfast

This is just mad genius: http://www.archive.org/details/MichaelGallagherColliersSalamancaReels

Kevin,

Any chance of a top post edit once you added new old stuff?
Something like:

“Edit : added n tracks”

Just found this: Martin_BierneThe_Grand_Spy.mp3

I love this Itisi
Do you by chance play the piano

Yeah, that’s a good idea, especially with artists who only made a disc or two.

Cool old stuff Kevin!

I’m going to add a new listing for each set of discs - editing the top topic won’t get anyone’s attention I see (doesn’t show as a new topic, thus no new activity).

Here’s stuff that is listed at the top - again. In case you missed it.

5/27 - added recordings of Shaun O’Nolan
5/27 - also added recordings of Patrick Fitzpatrick
5/30 - added two more recordings of Michael Gallagher
5/30 - also added Jimmie McLaughlin

And for today:

6/3 - added the Fingal Trio and Phil Martin

I’d be happy to read more detailed ‘reviews’ from the folks who have downloaded a track or two.

June 5th - added Tom Ennis - Trip to the Cottage, and Felix Doran.

June 6th - added Old Ireland Quartette.

June 7th

Tom Ennis -
