We have 2 spots left in the 3 day reedmaking class to be held in conjunction with the Saint Louis TIONÓL over the weekend of April 16, 17, 18.
The 3 day reed class starts on Thursday - April 15.
Class size is limited to 6.
All supplies and tools are provided but you should bring any tools you currently use.
This class is taught by Jim Wenham who has been teaching reeds at Willie Clancy Summer School.
In previous years, all the participants have had at least one working reed by Friday afternoon.
Registration is available by contacting Mike Mullins - mmullins@tionol.org or go to the website at www.tionol.org for more details.
If you would like a copy of the flyer, please email me.

Aha, that answers my tools question.
FWIW, Jim made my half set and both the chanter and drone reeds are remarkably in-tune and steady. So in-tune, I’ve even been able to play with accordions!
As a novice piper who unwittingly struggled with a cracked reed for six months and an uncracked-but-field-retrofitted reed for another six months, I get down on my knees every day in thanks for these reeds (the set is pretty grand, too). And Jim’s a great guy, both funny and patient. I’m looking forward to the class and hoping I get at least a small clue as to how to replicate them.
Thanks, Mike!
I’m still playing the reed that I made in last year’s extended workshop. It’s held up remarkably well and plays nicely with accordions too!
