We are in the process of working out the bodhran instruction, but it will either be Albert Alfonso the Cuban-Irish connection or Paddy League, the Greek-Irish connection
Also, if we get enough early registrants for the flute, we will also have John Skelton of Kentucky (now). We would really like to have John join us as well, so if you play the flute and want a Florida vacation, get off your butts and register asap. Registration forms can be emailed to you from maze@ufl.edu.
Tionol will be 4-6 February 2005 in lovely downtown Gainesville, Florida… ravaged from the hurricanes, but still standing strong. We are within 2 hours of all sorts of Florida delicacies… so a great vacation spot for the world. Classes this year will once again be at the Florida School of Massage… a website will soon post hotel and motel options, and maps to get here.
For more information, you can contact chiff member maze@ufl.edu. Registration of $85 before 1 Jan will include instruction for two days, a kick off party, sessions, and a concert at a local pub. Registration received after 1 January will be $100.
Awsome, i cant wait. I play more guitar and mandolin, but i will go just for the sessions and perhaps a whistle class. If there is an email list for this thing add me to it. antonemery@yahoo.com
As things develope, more will be added to the site…ie…registration form, list of hotels, directions to hotels and tionol location. Look forward to seeing you there. Last year’s event was a great experience, the weather was great and the music killer.
Just to let you know, the Superbowl is being held in Jacksonville the weekend of the Florida Tionol, as a result, rooms are beginning to book up in Gainesville. Now would be a good time to make a reservation.
An update, JOHN SKELTON will be the flute instructor for our Tionol. He is a mighty fellow whose playing is nothing short of stellar…on a variety of instruments.
We’d like to announce that the flute instructor for the Florida Tionol
will be a returning guest, John Skelton. John has graciously agreed to
teach novice to advanced lessons with all you lovely wooden floutists!
All those who attended last year know what an excellent instructor he
was, and this year he will be concentrating on flute instruction
ONLY… Kieran will be teaching the whistle classes!
Our early registration fee of $85 is a permanent fixture for all Flute
registrant due to the late annoucement of your instructor (i.e. you can
pay $85 after January 1 as well, flute players). All other participants
in the tionol will be asked to pay $100 after January 1, SO PLEASE
REGISTER EARLY!!! We need your support and need to know you will be
there at this tionol! Its going to be a great time with a fantastic
line-up of instructors, sessions, concert, and dinner!
