Growing up on the far West Coast of the US (right in the wind pattern of SF Bay), I have my non-scientific fallout theories about why four out of five in my family have thyroid disease. My sister, born in Oct. 46, has the worst case, having had her glands removed and with a chemically-supported metabolism. I am the youngest (born '56) and have hypo. My in-between brother and sister , born '47 and '49 also have hypothyroidsim. No, nobody of younger or older generation in family has it (that we know of).
Makes sense to me. I am, of course, already of a mind to connect certain disorders to environmental exposures.
