I intended to ask where the value for the total post count came from.
I’d assume the Statistics box at the bottom of the index page and that it is no more accurate than the user total amounts.

Don’t know what the database uses, but it seems that the numbers don’t match. Deleting one’s own posts doesn’t seem to alter the numbers (just checked in the test forum) so the only thing I can think of is mod. deletions for that discrepency. Of course this is speculation, but I think it is on a solid foundation. I would think that the Statistics and the total posts stats come from the same data set either way, and are consistent with each other.
ya, for a user the number that lives with the name & such is a total field that wonders off over time. It may be that the decrement function fails occasionally and that it is wired into all of the things that delete a post…(not that I believe that). There is the hidden/deleted/whatever forums that should contribute to the discrepancy.
Doing a search of all posts by the same author actually counts the posts by the user id, what is why it takes so long. It also takes a quite bit of the server’s resources.
I’d guess that the statistics box is not accurate.
