Ya know you're up north when...

you can get beer and liquor at Denny’s!

This may seem like no big deal to some of you…but I’ve never seen alcohol at a Denny’s, anywhere, ever.

Is this purely a Minnesota thing? Or, can you get a beer with your belgian waffle elsewhere? Or, am I in the only alcohol serving Denny’s known to man and perhaps in the twilight zone instead of Bloomington?

Eric

Oh hey! Ya sure, you betcha! Ya can do it on da Wisconsin side too, hey.

most of them have a bar here

You should go a little east of us, you can buy liquor, gasoline, and firecrackers all at one place in Wisconsin. Probably even on Sunday. Just watch out for the Packer fans.

We used to have a gas station in town with a bridal registry. Seriously.

My favorite BBQ joint in KC has a gas station/convenience store attached to it. It used to have a liquor store next door and glass windows so you could watch the customers…but the BBQ bought out the liquor store for office space which kind of lessened the atomosphere a bit.

Oklahoma Joes…in case you’re in KC and want burt ends good enough Anthony Bourdaine listed it as one of the world’s 13 restaurants you need to eat at before you die.

Eric

Oooh, I’ve been to Oklahoma Joe’s - my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Yeah, that seems weird to me, too.
Gives the Grand Slam breakfast new
meaning…

Denny’s is where people usually go
to sober up! (That or Waffle House.
Is there booze at the Waffle House?)

I cannot think of any Waffle Houses in Minnesota. Always thought of those as a southern thing.

I keep hoping Fleet Farm will start carrying food and booze plus a Subway, that way when we’re home we won’t have to go to more than one store. Then it’ll be true that if Fleet Farm don’t have it, ya don’t need it.

Ah. Yet another reason not to stray north of the Mason Dixon.

Yeah, my wife and I started crying when we crossed back over the line last Friday from up North. It was even more fun when we hit the back up at the 495-95 interchange that was likely due to an accident in the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel in Norfolk, VA, 168 miles away. Only took us five hours to travel 163 miles. Don’t get me wrong I love the South and I have always considered the South a good place to be from.

:really: I didn’t see one at your place.

when they think you are from england when you have an alabama accent( true story, happened to me in NYC), and they thought I was lyin about the alabama part :open_mouth:

It was a ways back in time…

Is this true? I did not know that.

Whoa. Someone’s knocking at the door, and they’re telling me to hand over my Minnesotan card.

That’s OK, with the impending possibility that the Anti-Christ may be coming to Minnesota to play for the Vikings, I can understand why any Minnesotan would be more befuddled than usual.

What’s the old saying? North Dakota does not have a football team because then Minnesota would want one too.

they all say eee eccy thump!

Hit 'em with a lutefisk and run!
