Can anyone post, or give a link to, a sketch of the precise inside profile of a Boehm system flute, i.e. “parabolic” head part, plus cylindrical bore ?
Of course, the part I’d like to understand better is the head…

The parabolic head joint is for the most part
a simple taper. Boehms headjoint has a bore of 19 millimeters and gradually reduced in diameter by nearly 2 millimeters. The position of the cork sets up octave alignment.
Its precisely 17.1 mm at the cork and 19 mm by time it just reaches the tuning slide.
Boehm’s claims a slight bulge midway but instruments that have been measure seem to be a straight taper.

Let me know what other measurements that you might need. He uses a length/bore ratio of 30.

I had actually borrowed once the book from a friend. But after you post I went and purchased one to-day. Brand new, hard-cover (fabric), with a 1994 ©. A bit expensive (ca. $40) but well worth it. Apparently this French translation is readily available from Editions Aug. Zurfluh (!), Paris.
