Does anybody get wrist pain when playing the flute?Mine is little finger side and I have a tennis elbow compression band for that arm which helps that pain but wonder if anybody else uses a brace and which one? I’m UK so not able to get them on NHS. Also my daughter is looking for something to help support her thumb when playing as she gets some pain in it. :adminok:
i get pains sometimes, but mine is different from most others. my happens because the way i play puts my hand and wirst in a “L” shaped position. i bought a simple wirst brace to wear at night and it has helped. Also i back off playing for such longs periods of time. I will switch between whistle and flute to give my wirsts a break.

now that it is in the right place
Which wrist is hurting?
My right wrist. But i have tennis and golfers elbow in bothe arms and frozen shoulder on the right as well. I have a compression support for the forearm to help the temmis elbow.
One thing you might do is check your playing
position carefully. Is your right wrist bent,
are you formally correct?
Also what happens when you play low whistles?
The Overton Low G gives me no problem but the Low Dixon which is a converted D Tenor Flute can give me pain if I play it for too long. I can’t change my hand position due to the way I have to support the flute but somebody has now sent me a URL for a tennis wrist support which should support but not restrict.
I’m just curious Selkie, having suffered from
various difficulties myself, if your form is
a problem. Don’t mean to second guess you,
and I’m wondering how you support the flute?
How long have you been at this? etc.
You’re welcome to PM me, if you wish. Best
