I have a quick question, I’m hoping one of you might be able to answer. My father has been bitten by the NAF bug, but is looking into branching out into other instruments. One thing we are looking for is a handheld tapered reamer…
Anyone know where we might be able to purchase one?
Hi, You can get reamers from, Grizzly Industrial, 1.800-523-4777 for a catalog. Or log on at www.grizzly.com They have hand-held tapered reamers, guiter peghead/bridge pin reamers and a full line of machine reamers, all at great prices. Plus just about the coolest catalog of woodworking/metalworking tools in the world. I shop with them all the time and their stuff is great.
Grizzly is very good, but if you’re looking for reamers long enough to do a flute barrel, I doubt the’ll have anything that long. For fingerholes, they’ll probably have it. Flutemakers usually make their own or have them custom made. I use a custom made gundrill for my whistles for example.
I’ll pass the word along and see what he says He has gotten pretty good at making NAF’s. (He’s got the equivelant to NAF WHOA) I’m hoping that eventually, we will have whistles!
And naturally, I"m hoping I can actually be decent enough to -play- them.
