I’m nowhere near the point where this is an important consideration, but I’m curious. What are the pros and cons of wood vz brass windcaps? I have to say I like the way the wood looks, but wondered if there are actual differences between the two other than asthetics. Thanks!

Aahh, that helps a lot thanks! I did a search, but came up with so many “windcap” hits that weren’t pertinent.
That’s the trouble with doing a search. Often you end up with 4 or 5 pages of ‘hits’ only to spend ages sifting through it all and not necessarily find anything related to your query particularly as often the relevent information is tucked away on the 3rd or 4th page of a thread whose title bears no resemblance at all to the information being sought.
I think it’s probably better sometimes simply to ask the question and risk receiving another one of those ‘…do a search…’ replies, because there will also generally be someone kind enough to give you the info, or as Galego did here, provide you with a link to the relevent discussion.
