Well, i recently got the walton’s little black whistle…and for some reason i love it the darn thing…i don’t get it, it was a cheap whistle ( eight bucks ). I own a Susato set ( it includes a Bb body a c body and a D body ) and a susato low d whistle i also own a key of E susato 2 piece whistle along with a low a susato whistle and a few generations ( key of Eb and key of f and key of g, i can barely play the g because of it’s tight fingering…i also have a regular walton D…oh keep in mind all the susato whistles i own are two pieced.
Any ideas why i like this whistle i just got ?
I believe my whOA is getting worse ! I’ve been looking at so many high end whistles lately , so i believe my whOA is getting worse ! I need a plan of acquiring them ( legally preferably jk of course, i will only obtain them legally! )
Wow that’s quite a collection! I just got a sweetone and am giving my Walton to my daughter as I’m sick of playing it and its getting a bit tired. There’s like a varnish peeling off it and the sound is not as good as it was a year ago when I bought it. Maybe I was supposed to clean it more? Anyway, I think it’s just nice to change up. I am thinking of getting a high end whistle for Christmas or birthday now- any excuse Whoa

walton LBD’s are great. the only problem I have with them is that the 4th and 5th holes are so close together ( I have big fingers) but my brother makes a great tone on his. I think thier just fun to play because they are so little and light. thier high notes are great even half way into the third octave!
I too like Walton’s Little Blacks, though I don’t currently have one. I had one about ten years or so ago that was superb. On the strength of that I bought ten or a dozen for a whistle class I was teaching - which were also good. Next time I bought a handful, they’d had a production problem they hadn’t spotted - the tubes had been cut off short/the whole set of tone-holes had been drilled too low on the tube - result, bottom D was sharp. Otherwise they were as good as ever. Unfortunately, the original one I had got snapped in my rucksack of flutes and whistles - broke in two at the B tone-hole (L2). The aluminium tube of which they are made is very thin and becomes brittle with age. I had another one go the same way. Somewhere (in a box of workshop kit) I have a Generation tube with a Waltons LB head on it replacing a duff Gen head, but it isn’t as good as my good Gen, and I stopped pursuing other high Ds when I got my Swayne boxwood. Nonetheless I’d recommend them as a very nice-toned, mellow and responsive starter whistle, treated with extra care!
Caw, stone the crows, Adrian! _And rea_lly, there’s no fair cause for bringing that kind of thing into it! Your premise is rotten to the core. You probably need to imbibe a certain brand of American lager. Does that strike a _chor_d? You could sing _chor_al praises, perhaps. (This post is about as _cor_ny as the music of the band alluded to!)

Actually, I think there is no real answer to this. Everyone I think looks for something a little different in their whistles (Which can actually probably vary with mood even).
