Who's piping tomorrow 3.17.11 ?

Just curious as to how other Uilleannists are marking St Patrick’s Day by playing Uilleann.
Friendly thread.
Sadly I wont be able to get to mine tommorow :frowning: Maybe Friday.

:really:

We are playing a nursing home, and a restaurant. I play with a fiddle and guitar. I play my uilleann pipes, SSP, and GHB. It is a bagpipe extravaganza! :open_mouth:

Uilleannators?

Best stop now before things get out of hand …

:tomato:

Sadly no jobs playing Uilleann Pipes…BUT…my money maker are my Highland Pipes !

4 jobs each paying $200-$250 each…time to think about putting down a deposit on a regualtor or two !

My reeds still haven’t fully recovered from the winter, so I’ll just be sticking to the banjo and the whistle, unfortunately.

-Playing for the St. Paul Mayor’s Breakfast
-Playing at the Landmark Center/Irish Music and Dance Association Annual event
-Busking (if it does in fact hit 50degrees Farenheit and isn’t raining)
-Coffee shop with Daddy Squeeze.

tommykleen

Busking before the local parade, and playing for lunch at the local pub.

Playing at a nursing home lunch-time, then off to the Claddagh Cottage Pub tonight for their party. Unfortunately we play in the parking lot… fortunately it’ll be 80 degrees in Orlando today!

Hadn’t thought about busking… hmmm…

Good luck to all of you! May your reeds be happy and bright!

Kathleen

Well, my piping events started last Wednesday.

I played Uilleann pipes for Gerry Breen, The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Ireland, for a dinner in his honour at our local pub.

Then… on Saturday night I piped the Lord Mayor into the San Jose/Dublin Sister City dinner at the Marriott hotel on highland pipes.

Then… I played at C.B. Hannegan’s pub in Los Gatos for a pre-St. Pat’s event on Tuesday evening with some fellow musicians.

Now I am headed off to C.B. Hannegan’s pub again for their St. Patrick’s Day madness to play Uilleann pipes with some fellow musicians for a couple of hours.

All-in-all a good week for piping and GREEN cash!

Cheers! Richard

St Patricks Day is on the 17.3.11 !

Americans always seem to do things arse about face.

RORY

I always thought that it was y’all that did things bass ackwards. BTW,Whoever heard of a bonnet on a car? :tomato:

Yeah, a TRUNK and HOOD makes much more sense … :stuck_out_tongue:

November 3rd, 2017 is a long ways off :stuck_out_tongue:

dj’a play yer uilleann pipes today, Rory? or no.

No, no … That’s clearly Quindecimber 3rd, 2011.

Since the world is going to end on December 21, 2012, I’m all in favor of adding as many extra months in between as possible.

Amen to that. As well, I would like to have the same weather and health as I had today. I had an awesome St. Patrick’s day this year with no green beer, Guiness, Bushmills, or Jameson (was it 1760?), but I do have a bottle of new Irish Cream I caught on sale at a local grocery store. I can’t remember the name and I am too lazy to get up and look.

I played some reels today . . . fly fishing that is  got skunked
tried getting some piping in, but didn’t quite get around to it with work and all. I’ll be making some post-St. Pat’s noise tomorrow morning.

Oh and for the Argentine pipers . . . Uilleannistas! or Uilleannadoras?

Been playing the grain off my half-set for the last week … 2 gigs last Saturday, 3 yesterday, another tonight and one more on Sunday. Anyway, I just had to write and profess my love for the instrument in general, and this set in particular. I have had an absolute blast and continue to be amazed by how stable and reliable my pipes have been. Yesterday I went from outdoors in a tent to a hot and humid pub and then to an air-conditioned restaurant, and they just rocked on for basically 10 hours straight. No muss, no fuss, minimal reed adjustment. I don’t know … maybe this is actually normal, but to me it’s still an absolute marvel!

I just wish I could get this much playing time in every week!

P.S. Uilleannators or Uilleannistas =

I call us gal pipers “Mna na Uilleann”

Well, the weather looked nice and the annual parade is about 100 feet from my front door, so I wandered out and busked for about an hour and made a little over $30. Interestingly enough it was all $1’s and $5’s, no coins. I usually make a lot more when I busk at the big Hmong farmers market in town. The Hmong love them some drones.

I was hoping for a showdown (perhaps dueling Bucks) with tommykleen, but he kept his distance. I guess he was too busy entertaining the mayor to play for us common folk.
