Well, I was at the Heart of the Forest Renaissance Faire yesterday, and I tied my trusty and sort of Ren Faire-looking natural Clarke C to my belt, thinking, “Oh, I’ll play a little.” It wasn’t until after I got there that I realized my Clarke takes more air than the others AND I was wearing one of those restrictive Ren Faire corest/vests.
I did my best and I think it was OK, but I certainly noticed being WAY more out of breath at the end. Thank God I didn’t take one of my lower whistles–I would have passed out!
Surely “Breathless in Corsets” would have been a more suggestive title? :lecherous leer: (don’t know if the BBcode will work for that one). And I’m sure good ol’ Bloomers would agree

We don’t have a RenFaire within many leagues (just trying to sound authentic…), so I go in for early 19th reenactment stuff. I just realized that that has it’s own advantages. The clothing may be equally uncomfortable, but at least there’s no corsets.
Alas, no pictures! I did that thing of bringing a camera and then forgetting to use it.
However, on a related note, I am planning to start incorporating my whistling into my belly dancing. I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to dance and whistle at the same time (belly dancing takes tremendous breath control, esp slow movements) but I do plan on maybe whistling accompanied by some smaller, easier steps. We’ll see how this goes–and, maybe, in a few months, I will have pictures of THAT.
That’s an interesting idea. I’m one of those people who, with practice, can really multi-task well. If you saw someone playing a tabor pipe and zills while dancing with a sword balanced on her head, would you be impressed?
I can do all of that–uh, except for the tabor pipe part. Guess I have some work ahead of me.
