I just startet to make a simple sax, but it has the whistle - fingering. It starts with the lowest tone C and goes over more than 2 octaves - more /less chromatic. The tube is from laminated veneer.
I play the sax with a normal sopranosax mpc.
please have a look:

I will work on a few design-features in the next days, but this little sax is almost finished.
Please discuss fellows!

Interesting, Martin…
How are you making the difference between minor and major third (concert Eb and E)?
I could definitely be interested in a simple sax type that doesn’t require left-hand fourth finger (which I haven’t got), overblows at the octave and has that bit more range than these single-octave chalumeau-type clarinet things!
You’ve sort of re-invented the Tarogato, a folk instrument played in Hungary and Romania.
The modern ones look like a Clarinet, but it has a conical bore and overblows at the octave and fingers more or less like a whistle, flute, or sax.
It’s basically the old folk shawm with a clarinet/sax mouthpiece. Then full keywork got added.

It’s also somewhat like a Xaphoon, but much more sophisticated, of course!
