Whistles Bee deflectors

During the mother’s day gathering I tried sharing this story with my family. No one seemed to appreciate the significance of the story. It was one of those. Oh well I guess you had to be there and also follow the chiff and fipple site to appreciate it.

Since work has started picking up more for me, I have not had the opportunity to practice my whistle as much.

Thus, me getting the courage to practice during my lunch time. My first time was in a semi-secluded site away from the racket of the little campers. Only me and the birds. Ah, it was nice…whistle fix #1

It was the next day… that I found interesting. The camp hired a tree service to clear away some of the trees next to the lodge. Quite noisy! My semi-secluded place was in use by more little campers, plus the noise of the chainsaws were too unsettling.

So I decided to rest in my car with the windows slighty down.

Entered a wasp… and soon after a huge bumble bee… Now I am not afraid of the critters. I just do not like driving a car with them buzzing excitedly around my face.

You may find this corney… but I spoke to the little creatures. " You can take shelter here for a few… but if you are not out of my car by the time I leave from work… well… you are history!"

The story continues… I took a 10 minute shut eye… while the tree removal service was taking thier break as well… wasp in one corner of my windshield and bumble bee resting by my rearview mirror.

The rest was soon over… so I decided this would be a good time to drown out the chainsaws… and also no passerbyer could hear me practicing over the noise. I rolled up the window beside me to help shield the noise of the chainsaws.

About 3 minutes into it… the bumble bee starts buzzing around my face and then slams itself against the window desperately trying to get out… I rolled down the window… One down… one more to go… I continued for another 3 minutes… the wasp does the same thing… Second one outta there.

Hmmmm… either I am a lousy whistler or there must be something about the sound that bees do not like…

Your first critic. He’s probably hunched over his tiny little word processor right now, writing his review for the National Pollen.

Love it Laura!!

There’s nothing like a animal/whistle story to liven up a wet Monday afternoon.

Did you try playing Flight of the Bumblebee?

Its probably not your playing. But, as your playing improves, if you notice that the bees no longer flee, I will acknowledge that my competitor’s product, the FippleGuard, would probably do a fine job protecting you from the pesky guys. (See, Jim, I can be a sport!!)

OMG!

I’d love to hear that one on whistle.
Any takers? A really great challenge.

Actually I was playing the tune “Scatter the Mud” highly appropriate after all of the rain
here lately. Makes the class I teach really enjoyable. Aquatic Safari… rain, mud and bugs…“insects”.

You know… that might come in handy someday.
A thought that went through my head whilst the bumble bee was buzzing around my whistle was… what if it flies up the tube? (thank goodness I tweeked my whistle to remove the buzz I was getting from my Clare! Oh my, it might of mistaken the noise for something else!!!) There should be a guard at the end of the tube as well for those outdoor days when bees are buzzing around. They may want to make a nest out of it.
