recently aquired a nice old whistle made by c. steele & co.its all brass with a lead or pewter plug.it plays really nice if a bit breathy.has anyone heard of this make.any info would be much appreciated.
I guess you know that lead can make you sick?

I think everything that could be said about lead poisoning from fipples has been said in the past. Let’s not let this degrade into yet another argument. I do suggest you read that thread that feadin linked, and I’d say it couldn’t hurt to seal the fipple with some clear nail polish or something before playing. Better safe than sorry, you know.
