Hello Chiff and Fipple,
I’ve come to the forum hoping to get an idea of which whistle to purchase . . . . . . .
I’m playing a Colin Goldie D whistle. I am very happy with it. Good tone, in tune. Fingerable Bb and G# which play in tune, which is important to me, and easy to get the half tones otherwise. I knew when I purchased the whistle that I wouldn’t get the high notes without high volume.
I spend some time playing when the volume isn’t a problem but lately most of my playing is with a guitar player playing acoustic, no amp, and with nylon strings and I can’t play the upper register at a volume that feels comfortable in this situation with the Goldie whistle. So . . . . . . can anyone recommend a whistle which lets me play the upper register with less volume and with the other characteristics of the Goldie whistle I’ve described?
Cheers . . . . . .
