Which Piper Would You Encourage To Release A Solo CD?

I personally would love for Louise Mulcahy to release a CD. Not only is she a fantastic piper,but she is a unbelievable flute player as well.Throw the sound of her Froment D and Woofe C sets into the mix and you have the basis for a fantastic recording.

Also Sean McKeon is the most technically gifted piper out there IMO.His chanter work in particular is fabulous.He also plays a fantastic set of Cillian O Briain pipes.

We need R.Browne to release a new Cd too :smiley:

I always thought that Paddy Moloney should make a CD before he gets so advanced in years that his technique suffers.
He is a very musical player and has amazing technique, but few have really heard it. It’s usually buried in the mix on Chieftans albums. But time and time again I’ve got hold of a newer CD of some piper who is a current star, which happens to have a tune on it that I have a recording of Moloney playing, and when compared the version on the new CD is less musical, less interesting, with far less ornamentation. His ability to alternate between completely fluid legato and dazzling staccato (often on the repeat of the same passage) is rarely heard in other pipers. One small example: on the jig Cherish the Ladies, I and many other pipers will play the rising staccato FGA triplet in the last part, but Moloney plays a descending staccatto triplet in that part as well.

While he has a few individual tracks recorded here and there, there is not yet a complete CD of solo piping from Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn. When he is ready to record, I think he will give us quite a good album.

Also, I have a few tracks recorded of Ciarnan Mac Feilimidh from SSWC 2003, but never heard form him again. I wonder what became of him.

I’d like to see another from Jimmy O’Brien-Moran. Or at least a reissue of the previous one. Unless I’m mistaken in believing that it’s out of print. How about Sean McKiernan on the Touhy set?
