whats happening with sindts

Just be patient… sooner or later a new one or a used one will show up somewhere. Its just a matter of time… now isn’t it.

I think the thing was suggesting that John should expand his operation. Having someone other than John making a Sindt? It just doesn’t seem right.

And now someone will say something about Overtons…

And so the discussion goes on, round and round…

But that is something up to each maker. Some, like Bernard, are happy with someone continuing their brand, and having just got an Overton i’m glad Colin is, they’re very nice whistles, others may just want to leave their brand set in stone forever when they retire - which is great also - there will always be the next great whistle smith coming along soon!

But Hi, and welcome to C&F!

I have been on John’s “secondary list” for over 2 years now. I think he makes a fine whistle, although the outside world is going a bit silly about them - in this price category there are other builders who make amazing whistles, who do not have a huge backlog.

Mack Hoover is just one example. My Bb and narrow bore Soprano D are both absolutely stellar, for under $70 they beat out any >$300 whistle I have played so far. And whenever I contact him for another key, it is sitting on my desk about 2 weeks later.

In my experience people who tend to focus too much on gear are rarely are any good at playing the damn thing..
