What to use as lube on the tuning joint on Burke Composites?

What should I use to lube the joint on a Burke Composite whistle so it won’t stick?

BTW, Michael told me that a good way to get it unstuck is to put it in the freezer. That works.

I think Mr. Burke would have the best answer for that question as well.

keep it clean.

I use silicone grease. It does not degrade the O rings. I think this was recomended on the sheet of paper that came with my Burkes.

Vaseline (with aloe vera).

Not sure if the aloe vera does any good, its just that my lip balm has it in already and i couldn’t be bovvered to buy anything else.

Had my whistle nearly two years and it’s working well.

There are no O-rings in mine, as far as I can see. Low D EZ from 2002. Anyway, I just clean it thoroughly every couple of months to half a year, and put a tiny (really tiny!) bit of vaseline on there. Has worked like a charm so far.

I don’t see any O-rings in my composite whistle, either. That’s probably what makes it so hard to slide.

Thanks to everyone for the ideas.

Silicone grease? Is that the kind plumbers use for faucets?

I’ll let you know what Mike suggests if he responds to the question I’ve sent to him.

Yes it is.

I have three Burkes but they are all aluminium so maybe only they have O rings. Vaseline would not be good for these particular whistles as all petroleum products degrade plastics and dissolve rubbers, according to what I read. It would be good to hear from Mike.
