P.S. “Wi not trei a holiday in Sweeden this yer ? See the loveli lakes, the wonderful telephone system, and mani interesting furry animals including the majestic moose”
I do that, too. That’s why I say - IMHO, of course - they’re not the same tune. I agree there are points in common, but that’s as far as I go. We could do the civilised, intellectual thing and take it outside.
“Hey hey you two, stop arguing. Shimmer is a desert topping AND a floor wax.”
Thanks for the input everyone. I say they’re different versions of the same tune. The chords are the same in any event.
Looking at Jon’s link, I just saw Brendan Begley a few weeks ago and I think he sung Amhrán na leabhar. What was pissing me off though was that the younger crowd in the pub had no respect whatsoever and kept talking through Brendan’s airs. That wouldn’t fly too well in the old country.
There’s precious little respect in “the old country” these days either. The last few times I’ve been over, not only can you not get any peace for an air, you can’t even get any for a decent bit of singing. Just 5 years ago, the pub would have gone quiet. But it’s changed.
