It’s also important to point out that many artists are not given credit for their participation in films. Post production or post print for the soundtracks usually ends up without any credit being given. An example is Chris Norman’s playing on the Titanic movie (the nude painting scene). Chris was never given direct credit in print for that contribution. So, here we get the man with the golden flute and the man with the wooden flute in one thread.
I think you are doing some time travelling thing here as I had never thought of getting a shakuhachi until one of my brothers brought it up a few days ago while on the phone. He is back living in Japan and said he would buy one for me if he saw a good one in a pawn/secondhand shop.
So at some point in the future I will say “From my brother John in Japan”
Now why did I not think of that? We have seen them play in Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Ireland and Denmark through the years. It’s not like we could jump in the car or use Ryanair… anyway my whistlemakers wage does not allow travels that far.
Amar, I definitely had the conversation with my brother before I saw the thread. There are so many forums here now it can take ages to go through them all.
In the official soundtrack site: http://www.lordoftherings-soundtrack.com/ there is noted that pennywhistle is played by Mike Taylor AND Alan Doherty and Sir James Galway is featured in the “Return of the King” Soundtrack.
Now, the question only remain that who plays the whistle on which tracks?
