Wedding Tune

Some time ago I agreed to be hired for a wedding “to play the Uilleann Pipes” in May. Just heard from the bride-to-be that she wants “Highland Cathedral” played as she walks the aisle. You can imagine my thoughts about that one. She will send me a CD as I do not know the tune. Anyone know this tune? Is it suitable for Uilleann Pipes?

Glands,
Here is site from google that has an audio of the tune. It’s pipe and drum band with orchestration added.

Good luck,

It’s an easy tune to play, Doc, but in my opinion, it’s a tune better suited for the big, loud shoulder-mounted pipes.

You can also find it on ABC tune finder. Kind of a dull tune, but you can memorize it quickly. You could start it on 1st octave G or back D.

Thanks for the tips and the link.

I think it’s a lovely tune, well suited for the pipes.
Imagine what you can do playing it in G and then D.
It’s lovely…good one

I have played this at a wedding before. It actually worked well. Note that the drones don’t match the A part, but go nicely with the B part of Highland Cathedral. Try it that way and you will be surprised.

I also had my brother behind me on a piano with some great transitional chords.
