Is it just me, or is the C&F server pretty erratic. Often, and particularly lately, it becomes very, very slow in serving pages. Then it speeds up and works fine for awhile. I’m pretty sure it’s not my connection, as I often have multiple browsers open, and I multi-task until the Chiffer wakes up.
I have no idea where it’s hosted or anything, but it can get annoying when you’re all wrapped up in the latest Gen debates!

No, it’s not just you. It’s been hanging on me, too, sometimes with database error messages. I’ve lost a posting or two while trying to submit. In my case, maybe that’s a good thing … the software is trying to tell me something!

Same thing happens here too.
It’s my experience, too. I’ll bring it to rich’s attention.
Sometimes I load it into two tabs on my browser and when I submit a post, I tab over to the other screen so I can do other things while waiting for the post to go up.

I’ll do that too, but I’ll do it to check and see if my post went through. Usually it has, and then I just go ahead and close the offending, slow other window that looks like it’s still trying to post my topic.
And here I thought it was my connection.
Two places I visit that use ppBhB boards are getting sluggish. The other place says that the database is just too big and they should archive some of it. I have no idea. I only know that there and here needs searchable archives if that happens.

PHPBB (used by this Forum) is very dependant on the servers performance on handling mySQL and very dependant on PHPBB versions (you need to update your PHPBB version as updates are released).
And I thought that it was just because my message had to swim across the ocean to get there!
I think it’s the size of the cutie-pie thread that must be bogging down the servers. Are servers cutie-pies?
