Please forgive me if this is a duplicate post–I looked and didn’t see anything before I posted.
I have heard that our friend Aaron Walden, “Walden” here on the Chiffboard, is critically ill and in ICU in the hospital. There has been some sort of medical emergency.
You know what to do–good thoughts, healing vibes, prayers…whatever you do to invoke whatever might can help.
I am sorry I don’t have more information.
Walden is a good friend and a man I have respected for many years.
I sure hope he’ll be ok. The world is a much better place with him in it.
“Aaron Walden is in critical condition at the ICU unit of OSU Medical Hospital Tulsa Oklahoma. He has been in the ICU since April 24 2015. His family have incurred great expenses due to driveing to there home which is over a hour drive. They have many other expenses that have come up which are to great to post. Please help Aaron and his family during this crisis.”
The effort to help out Walden’s family financially has pretty much reached its goal and it looks to me that is largely due to C&F people. My thanks to everyone who contributed and who have kept Walden in your thoughts and/or prayers. He’s been an institution around here from the beginning and is a fine man. Thanks to James and Jerry for the thread and updates.
I see the gofundme site says that Aaron is “still in ICU”. That was a day ago. I’d never heard of his condition before, but from what I’ve read about it since, if he’s still in ICU, that might be good news. I hope so.
According to a post on his FB page on the morning of 5/11, Aaron tested positive for a tick disease—I don’t know which one. A nurse told his family that he must be very strong, because most people who have this disease don’t live long enough for the culture to come back and be treated. The nurse also said it’s a long recovery. Presumably, though, with a known target now, treatment can begin that will gradually pull Aaron out of his critical state.
A message from Rick and Glenda Walden (his parents)
Thank you very much for praying for Aaron and his family. We are sorry to inform you in this manner, but Aaron went to be with the Lord at 12:23 Thursday morning. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of his death and the funeral service announced afterward.
We have all lost a kind, “reasonable,” and loving friend. He held a special place in my life and I will miss him very much.
