Flute and Whistle Player (Belfast/Boston)

at the New York Irish Center, 10-40 Jackson Avenue, Long Island City Queens, NY
Join us for a workshop with outstanding flute and tin whistle player Peter Maguire. Born and raised in Belfast and now living in Boston, Peter learned music as a boy from his accordionist father Tommy and later studied with Sligo flute legend Séamus Tansey. Peter’s workshop will concentrate on style, ornamentation and tone. Flute and whistle players would benefit most, but all melody players above the novice level are welcome. A collector and researcher, Peter will also share his knowledge of Irish music history with us.
