UPS scheduled a pickup to have the flute looked over by an inspector. The flute/package was last scanned 2 days ago and now no one knows where it is. It may be on the inspectors shelf… who the f*ck knows? This is apparently UPS protocol; to pick up damaged merch. and levy a judgment on whether or not the insurance will be awarded…TO THE SENDER.
My freinds, THIS is a problem, so I will let you know what I’ve learned (again).
A) Bring the damaged instrument YOURSELF to the inspection office!
B) If you’re lazy (now that you know NOT to let them pick it up) Get the name of the the indiv. picking up the box for inspection, which depot he works out of, and the tel. # of where the instr. will be inspected.
C) to circumvent insurance claims/ reimburment checks being sent to people you may not know; Get yourself a FedEx acount #. IT’ FREE! Schedule a pickup and again ONLY SHIP NEXT DAY. If the instr. gets wrecked, the reimbursment check goes to you. If this is a newly/used purchased instrument, your man will have the check our yours he cashed, and you will get the reimbursement check. Easy and simple.
It’s up to the 2 of you who gets/or wants the useless box of splinters and silver.
tomorrow I will pick up again on the 3 leads I have in regards to finding out where the flute actually is…IF it’s findable. However, I DO have the name of the guy who picked it up. I made sure I engaged him in conversation, showed him the instrument, and invited him in…so he surely remembers me.
UPS holds no individual responsible…the company takes the hit and doles out the $$ if they see fit. Though, I spent the 5 minutes to establish some quick repoir with the pickup man, and I have my sights on him, and also the station where the instrument may be shelved.
