So I was wondering if there were any Pipers in the Westmeath or Meath area willing to teach Uilleann Pipe basics to a musical novice. There is a community of pipers back in my hometown in Texas, but what I’ve heard is that I should get my lessons in while I’m here in Ireland if I can, just based on the number and quality of piping lessons here. If I can I would love to get as much of the basic fundamentals I can before I go home this summer, so that if I have to go long stretches without direction I’ll have a solid foundation and not fall into fundamentally bad habits.
Maybe its unnecessary, but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask. A gentleman from the NPU told me they’re thinking of starting up a class in Kinnegad, which is only about 30 mins away from where I live in Delvin. I’m still waiting on more information for that. Thats the best option I have at the moment, but I’m always keeping my eyes open for private lessons because my week to week schedule is pretty erratic. So any Irish Pipers feel like passing on some knowledge, and earning some cash?
