Two excellent CD’s

This week I added two CD’s to my modest collection. Both are excellent.

1.) Nusa by Nusa (Rory Campbell & Malcolm Stitt). Samples are available at and CD’s can be ordered through http://www.nusa.co.uk/albums.php; and

2.) Niall Ó Callanáin + Band Live (bouzouki and whistle). Samples at http://www.nialloc.com/. CD’s are available at http://www.mulligan.ie/.

great links, nusa i have already, Niall Ó Callanáin is new to me, must get the album strings and things, but i can’t seem to find it at the links you posted…any alternatives?
thanks.

did some searching, you can find niall’s cd here:
http://www.irishmusicmail.com
http://www.dervish.ie/acatalog/Niall_O_Callanain_.html
http://www.folkmusic.net/catalog/index.php?cPath=37_120&sort=2a&page=6 (cheapest i could find)

cheers.

Mulligan Records’s web site doesn’t list their complete inventory. I e-mailed Mike Larkin, manager of Mulligan’s, at mulligan(a)indigo.ie, and he had the CD in stock. But apparently you found other sources.

thanks dapple, but i just placed my order at folkmusic.net, i ordered ‘strings and things’. which did you get?

The “Live” CD can be found on Mulligan’s web site by performing a keyword search of OCallanain. I don’t see “Strings & Things” listed. Thanks for the alternative sources.

I got “Live” and like it enough to have put “Strings & Things” on my wish list.

I too have (and dig) the NUSA CD, but a word of warning for trad heads: It’s anything but. For those who like NUSA and haven’t heard Campbell and Stitt’s “Field Of Bells”, it’ll be right up your alley, in all likelihood.

Rory Campbell really is one of my favorite Low Whistle Players, along with Brendan Ring and McGoldrick (thanks again Amar my friend)

Rory has such a pure “Piping” style of whistle playing that he’s got a unique sound/style. Low whistle fans should really check out his playing, either with Stitt, or with Old Blind Dogs (recent few releases.)

Loren

you’re very welcome loren, fusedII should be out anytime now actually…

indeed…

Although I’ve been a fan of the old blind dogs for well over 10 years now, I’d never got around to listening to NUSA until the back end of last year, when I went to their gig in Drummonds, Aberdeen. I was just utterly blown away, and have finally got their CD (arrived from Amazon this morning). I’m currently listening to it while sitting at my desk “working”, and having great difficulty sitting still.
