Where can I get it ?
from olle.bergstrom@bredband.net
I don’t know if Jerry F does Shaw low D’s or not. He does the high D’s. I have a Shaw low D that I love in every respect-the easy right hand fingering spans, it’s in tune, beautiful haunting tone, it doesn’t clog on me --EXCEPT the air requirements for me are astronomical. I get light headed after playing Eleanor Plunkett and occasionally see stars. The extra breaths required also tend to break up the tune and make it a bit choppy. A friend, Aodh Og O’Tuama, a fabulous professional whistler from Four Shillings Short, plays one and has no trouble with the breathing. I now perform with a Chieftain (about three times as expensive however) and the air requirements are dramatically lower. I love it though it needs some coddling so it won’t clog on me. Good luck. I’ll watch to see what people recommend.
I’ve only tweaked a few low D Shaws. I stopped doing any Shaws below C because the lower key Shaws have metal covering the fipple plug and I can’t do some of the things I need to be able to get predictable results.
Best wishes,
Jerry
I would be willing to try. Go head and email or PM me.
