WOOOW!!
thanks to all, now i have tons of tunes to test!! and M&E is getting better and better..
not too ugly with the new rings.. i think it’s a good change, i’ve seen pictures from the old rings, very simple…
maybe one day i’ll send it to have it keyed.. maybe one day in the future…
er.. just one question… any good cross-fingering for f natural?
Just for laughs I played “Smoke on the Water” once. Oh yeah, I seem to recall my piper buddy, a Zouk player and I doing passable versions of “Space Jam” and “Sympathy for the Devil” once. Needless to say there had been a fair amount of beer involved.
Can anything beat KC’s version of that on Bb flute with the viola duet?
I am holding off on learning Colonel Frazier’s until that day in the future consider myself a truly very good flute player. My goal is to get good enough tone, timing, expression, and endurance to do it justice. It’s a kingly tune and deserves the best.
That’s where I picked it up, too! Love my Bb whistle for playing along with CD’s.
And there are lots of tunes I’m not learning yet; haven’t picked a specific one to save for dessert, so to speak. Seems I give 'em a try as soon as they’ve worked their way into my inner ear.
There are lots that folks have mentioned here that I haven’t yet heard. Makes a good wish list!
I just came upon Cailin na Gruaige Doinne (The Girl of the Brown Hair) in Ireland’s Best Slow Airs. WOW! Is that a nice air or what? I love the second octave but much of this air is in the first.
Actually, that’s a nice tune book. One doesn’t get to hear many slow aires, typically. I like to play them on my Bb flute, but don’t have much in the way of discography for most of them.
