Okay, I’m also gonna go ahead and offer the Tipple up as a straight ahead sale item as well.

I forgot to mention that the flute includes the additional tuning wedge, protective cloth storage sleeve, and a swab wire. The price on Doug’s website for the 3 piece tunable F flute is $70., $10 for the wedge, $6 for the cloth bag, and $7 for shipping. So the total new cost for this flute is $93. I’m asking $70 for the flute, shipped via USPS priority mail to the CONUS. Sorry, but I am NOT willing to sell and ship this item outside the U.S.

This is the perfect first flute for a whistle player, folks! Tipples are outstandingly good flutes, (not just for beginners), and I imagine the F is even easier to play than the D. Of course you’ll be back looking for one of those soon enough! :laughing: Seriously, for the price of a midrange whistle, how can you go wrong?

Edited to say: Whoops, I thought this was the Whistle Forum! Loren, you should cross-post this and draw some whistlers over into flute frenzy!

I haven’t played Doug’s F flute, but my Tipple D flute can be played with either Irish or Boehm embouchure both to good effect, and able to sound fine with either.

Have a listen to Michael Eskin’s sound samples of how he plays a Tipple, and note that it sounds quite like an Irish flute! He’s probably not using a Boehm embouchure there, I would imagine. So, if any of you are hesitating to buy Loren’s Tipple F, don’t-it will serve you well, and it is able to sound like an Irish flute too, depending on how you play it.

Yeah, I’m not suggesting it’s a difficult flute to play, by any stretch, it’s quite easy to play, in fact. It’s just that I am really focusing on developing a particular type of embouchure for a particular type of sound, on a particular type of instrument - and I simply feel that going back and forth between my Olwell and the Tipple is counter productive for me at this point.
