Tip for keeping your em-bo-chure going

I tend to drool a lot, and sweat. Yuck! I used to wear shabby trenchcoats too, to complete the picture…
Anyway, I also used to have a helluva time keeping the embochure going because the headjoint would get all soggy. I tried looking at the ceiling while I played but when the tune was over my pint would be gone, etc. etc…anyway one day I tried putting some double sided Scotch tape underneath the blowhole for “traction,” and voila! No more slippage, and I can wail away for hours no problem.
I’m not sure if this has been suggested before, perhaps it will be of benefit to some of my other oily/slimy colleagues.

The slippage is one reason I prefer boxwood over blackwood. It’s a little more absorbant and provides a little more traction.

I know a few gunsmiths that would checker/carve the taped area for you.
