Why does “Ride of the Valkyries” suddenly come to mind?
All these image posts and it’s taken me this long to think about this…
Denny (or anyone else who cares), you ever messed w/ Celestia? It’s a fantastic program that visualizes the known universe. One of the most entertaining things to do is to turn on constellation outlines, then change your point of view to something other than Earth. It’s something people tend not to think about, but the patterns and shapes we see exist purely because of our reference point. If you zoom far enough out away from Earth, all the constellations end up just making a circle full of jagged lines, pointing to Earth at the center.
Gee, that’s just the way it looks from the mother ship … oops!
