the right hand spread problem, advice?

my flute does have a right hand spread of 70 mm and I keep getting amiss with especially the D hole.
when trying to play, say from note a to note d, I find my fingers keep “searching” for the hole and miss it …
someone have a tip on how to improve this…not that the stretch itself seems to be the problem but it is just that it doesn’t work out automatically as I would like
any particular exercises in mind?

play ascending and descending scales on the
right hand notes. Everybody goes through this,
I wager; certainly I did.

Try this: play with your fingers flat, and angle your hand so that you’re covering the fourth hole with the second joint of your index finger, but still convering the sixth hole with the tip of your third finger. This should significantly reduce how far you have to spread your fingers.

Make a slit in the webbing between your fingers on the right hand, up to the knuckle if necessary, like the old pipers used to do, drastic I know but it works

GOODNESS!!! :boggle:

since I did not get too much replies I started fooling around till I solved this problem myself.
Now I hold my right hand as follows: index first joint, middle finger 2nd pad and ringfinger first joint…my pinkie is tight against the side of the flute and the thumb between the fourth and fifth hole.
Works well now finally am able to play without discomfort.
