This fall’s edition of The Pipers’ Review is one of the best I have read in a while.
There’s a great interview with Ronan Browne by Kate Smith, a couple of articles on reedmaking and alternative reedmaking materials, a nice plug for Lewis Blevins’ new book Tea in Connemara and a good bit more… not to mention a smashing photo of the grain art king himself, Tom Klein smiling at us from the cover photo with his new K&Q Taylor-esque concert set… I am soooooo envious. ![]()
It also features a brilliant article on building hollow mainstocks by our own Bill Haneman (aka “billh”). A fascinating read and I am eagerly awaiting the next issue for part two.
For those of you who have not done so yet, now is a good time to spend $18 in the US, $19 in Canada and $22 everywhere else (please use US funds) for a years subscription of The Piper’s Review and a years membership in the Irish Pipers Club. This publication is loaded with info and insight into our instrument of destruction and well worth the price.
- I was not asked or paid to plug this newsletter. I did so out of a sense of euphoria brought on by a stimulating read.
